New year goals

Back in FL after a busy but fun holiday break! It's always good to see friends and family and to take a break from lab work and grad school stuff. This year we also had amazing weather, so no travel worries and no freezing my face off while doing errands around town! Also definitely good to be back home and slowly getting back into the regular routine.

I don't like the term "resolutions" and don't like to make them per se, but I do like to set goals for the year ahead. Here are my goals for 2012:

Professional goal: Submit my first manuscript for publication
Outreach goal: Actively participate with a community program (food pantry, student mentoring, etc) on a regular basis
Personal goal: Start participating in an extracurricular activity. Current potentials: martial arts, piano lessons, or a new, team-based sport.

As with every year, there are also lots of little things I'm going to set out to do. Some of these include:
-Complete my 2nd triathlon with a better swim and run time than last year
-Join church choir
-Finish reading The Bible and get lots of other books read as well
-Write some short stories
-Expand my photography skills by playing around with technical settings more

Here's to a good 2012!
