Baby sandhill crane

Last week while I was walking over to another building in our area, I saw the pair of sandhill cranes that always hang around our lab. I noticed they had an additional member of their group, and when I got a little closer I saw  that it was a baby crane! I didn't get a great picture at first but I saw them a few days later and snapped a quick photo on my phone. My lab mate Ignacio (who works with birds) says that since he's pretty tall he must be one or two months old already. It's so fun to have such a cute little wild family here at the CEHT!

The baby crane is the one in the middle, being protected by mom and dad!
